The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced several closures and reduced traffic related to the Colbern Road Bridge demolition.

Lane closure of eastbound Colbern Rd. from just east of NE Town Center Dr. to NE Rice Rd.: MoDOT has announced it will close the left lane of eastbound Colbern Rd. from just east of NE Town Center Dr. to NE Rice Rd. beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 13 for the removal of the concrete median strip on Colbern Rd. The closure will remain in place for the duration of the bridge demolition and replacement of the north part of the Colbern Road Bridges over I-470 and Route 291.

Closure of I-470 between Douglas Street and Route 291 May 19-22: MoDOT has announced its crews will CLOSE the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 470 between Douglas Street and Route 291 beginning Friday, May 19, at 8 p.m. until approximately Monday morning, May 22, at 4 a.m. This closure is for the demolition of the north half of the Colbern Road bridge over I-470. Traffic on Colbern Road will be head to head on the south part of the bridge as the north part of the bridge is demolished. Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.

Nightly Closures of Route 291 at the Colbern Road Bridge: MoDOT has announced NIGHTLY CLOSURES of northbound and southbound Route 291 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, May 22, at 8 p.m. until approximately Friday, May 26 at 5 a.m. These closures are for bridge demolition of the north half of the Colbern Road bridge over Route 291.  Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes during these times. 

  • Northbound Route 291 will close at the off ramp to Colbern Road. Northbound traffic will be diverted up the off ramp to Colbern Road, onto the south half of the Colbern Road Bridge, and routed back down on the on ramp onto northbound Route 291 (also known as northbound I-470).
  • Southbound 291 will close at westbound I-470 and will divert traffic up the off ramp to Colbern Road, onto the Colbern Road Bridge, and back down the on ramp onto southbound Route 291.
  • Traffic on Colbern Road will be head to head on the south part of the bridge as the north part of the bridge is demolished and rehabilitated.

Reduced Traffic to One Lane Each Way on Colbern Road from NE Rice Road to NE Town Centre Blvd Beginning May 18: MoDOT has announced its crews will reduce traffic to one lane each direction on the south half of Colbern Road between NE Rice Road and NE Town Centre Blvd. beginning Thursday, May 18. The northern lanes of Colbern Road will remain closed until approximately mid-August. This closure is for the demolition and rehabilitation of the north part of the Colbern Road Bridges over Interstate 470 and Route 291.
