Will the City of Lee’s Summit be picking up trees, limbs and brush from the storm on Saturday, June 2, 2018?
No, the City of Lee’s Summit will not be picking up trees, limbs and brush. Crews only move trees, limbs and brush to the side of streets to keep traffic open; they do not remove it and dispose of it. Maintenance of trees and landscaping on private property or from private property are the responsibility of property owners. That includes trees in the right-of-way. For example, if a limb from your tree falls into the street, you are responsible for properly disposing of it.

City of Lee’s Summit Assessing Damage From Morning Storm

LEE’S SUMMIT, MO—At approximately 4:47 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Jackson County, Missouri. As the storm moved through Lee’s Summit straight line wind caused significant damage to trees, overhead powerlines and fences. The damage to overhead lines resulted in power outages affecting approximately 13,500 customers in the Lee’s Summit area. A house was damaged due to a fallen tree.
