Southwest Second Street Now Open to Through Traffic

Expect lane narrowing and some lane closures as on-going construction continues along Second Street

The section of Second Street near Blue Parkway that had been closed is now open to through traffic, and the entire roadway is expected to remain open throughout the duration of two separate construction projects running concurrently along or near the Second Street corridor in Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Construction on Pryor Road Shoulders Set to Begin in July 2014

This project was voter approved during the 2013 no-tax increase general obligation bond election.

Pryor Road shoulder improvements from Hook to Longview roads in Lee’s Summit, Mo., are set to begin in July 2014, after a $782,215.62 contract with Orr-Wyatt Streetscapes was approved by the Lee’s Summit City Council on June 5. The work is expected to start after the Independence Day holiday and be completed by mid-September. After construction begins, one lane of Pryor Road will remain open to traffic at all times.

The Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport invites the community to its Airport Open House event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the airport, 2751 NE Douglas St., Lee’s Summit, Mo. Admission is free to this family-friendly event which offers fun and flight with static aircraft displays, aviation-related vendors, a hot air balloon launch, helicopter rides and much more.


Use Fireworks Safely and Legally

The Lee’s Summit Fire Department wants to remind everyone to have a safe Independence Day holiday by using approved fireworks responsibly The City of Lee’s Summit ordinance allows the use of approved consumer fireworks with a permit on July 2nd and 3rd between the hours of 10 a.m. and 11 p.m., and on July 4th between the hours of 10 a.m. and midnight.

Lee's Summit turns 150 in 2015!

In preparation for the big Sesquicentennial Celebration, a group of citizens have formed the Truly 150 committee to help plan a year-long celebration.
