Admission fees into Legacy Park, Gamber and Harris Park Community Centers will be reduced to half price on all days the National Weather Service issues Excessive Heat Warnings for the months June, July and August. During business hours, Mid-Continent Libraries are also good cooling centers. Call United Way 2-1-1 for assistance or information about public cooling centers.

Buying Energy Star Appliances Pays Off Several Ways in April

Residents in need of a new washer, refrigerator, or other energy star certified appliances, might want to purchase them starting this weekend. That’s because the City of Lee’s Summit is participating in the “Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday” that exempts city and state sales taxes on energy star certified new appliances from April 19 through April 25, 2015.

Art and Artifacts Fair and Historically Themed Bike Ride in May

Do you have items of historical significance and relevance to Lee’s Summit?  In an effort to identify cultural resources and encourage public education as it relates to the history of Lee’s Summit and historic preservation, the Lee’s Summit Historic Preservation Commission (HPC), in partnership with the Lee’s Summit Historical Society, will hold the second annual Art and Artifacts Fair on Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 11 am to 2 pm in the City Hall lobby 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit.
