City Facility Closings and Reduced Hours for New Years

Lee’s Summit City Hall & Lee’s Summit Municipal Court will be closed on Thurs., Jan. 1, 2015 in observance of New Years Day.

Have you received your Jackson County Tax Bill?

If you're ready to pay your Jackson County Personal Property and/or Real Estate tax bills, come by City Hall at 220 SE Green to make your payment!  The City benefits by receiving 1% of tax dollars collected for acting as an agent for Jackson County. 

FREE Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Tax Preparation in February at City Hall

January 2015: All Appointments have been filled.  The City, Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, and United Way of Greater Kansas City are conducting annual Free tax preparation services for qualifying Lee’s Summit residents on February 3, 10, 17, 2015 at City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit.

  • Appointments available: 3 – 5 p.m.
  • Walk-in clients taken: 6 – 8:30 p.m.

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable federal tax credit for low-income individuals and families. To qualify, you must meet certain requirements listed below and file a U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. Individuals and families MUST meet certain general requirements.

Showcase Your Art at 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration!

Artists with artwork promoting unity, depicting our community and highlighting Dr. King’s values are being asked to display their artwork at the City’s 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. event being held at 5 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 19, in the Pavilion at John Knox Village, 520 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit.  The deadline to reserve space to display your art is Fri., Jan. 2. Youth and adults are welcome to participate in the art exhibition. The artwork is part of the City’s annual Dr. King celebration, which brings together the community to honor the life and legacy of the great civil rights leader.

Results of Public Input for CDBG Five-Year Consolidated Plan Revealed at Dec. 15 Public Meeting

The City of Lee’s Summit began a community awareness campaign about the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Five-Year Consolidated Plan process in September and has held numerous public participation events in order to identify unmet community needs as well as strategies and community resources to address those needs.   The results of those public participation events will be revealed during the following public meeting:
