Learn how to “Green” your home, lifestyle and wallet!
Reducing, reusing and recycling can be incorporated into all aspects of our life from home to everyday activities. More than 30 vendors participating in the City of Lee’s Summit’s first “Green on Green Sustainability Fair” will have tips to educate you about sustainable practices that can be implemented everyday to improve the sustainability of our community.
The fair is FREE and will be Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Green Street between 2nd and 3rd streets in downtown Lee’s Summit, MO. There will be a variety of activities at the fair. A children’s booth will be available for youth to play a fishing game and draw “green” inspired pictures using sidewalk chalk. In addition, Fourth Grade Recycled Art Contest entries will be displayed and winners of the contest will be announced.
Dispose of sensitive documents by bringing up to four paper bags to shred at the mobile paper shredding truck from 10 a.m. to noon.
Still not sure what to do with your old pair of gym shoes? Grab them off the shelf or out of your closet and bring them to the fair because Nike will be collecting them to recycle into materials for playground surfacing and cushioning for sports facilities. The Lee’s Summit Police Department will display hybrid vehicles at the event.
The fair’s music will be “green” featuring live performances by “EcoElvis” and the “Green Spirit Band.”
The “Green on Green” Sustainability Fair is hosted by the City of Lee’s Summit, in partnership with the Lee’s Summit 360o: Charting Tomorrow strategic planning group.
