City of Lee’s Summit crews are pre-treating primary, secondary and residential streets today in preparation for snow forecast for our area on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
According to Weather or Not, the City’s weather service, snow is forecast to begin between 9 a.m. – noon on Tuesday in the area. The forecast map shows snow accumulations of ½ inch in the northern part of Lee’s Summit and up to 1 to 2 inches of snow in the extreme southern part of the City.
All of the snow in our City has created an opportunity for a number of fun-filled outside play activities. As a result, the City would like to remind residents to review the following safety rules with children regarding winter weather play:
- Do not build snowmen near or in the street
- Do not play or build tunnels in snow piles and windrows, especially on or near streets and driveways
These are just a few important rules to follow in order to prevent children from becoming injured by individuals driving vehicles and operating equipment on streets.
