Historic Preservation
The City is actively involved in historic preservation. The Planning and Development Department provides staff support for these activities. If you have any questions, contact us at 816-969-1600.
Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission is composed of citizen members appointed by the City Council. Their mission is to proactively identify, evaluate, and protect historic properties and cultural resources within the boundaries of Lee’s Summit and encourage planning, public education, and economic vitality as they relate to Historic Preservation. See Historic Preservation Commission for more information. The Commission maintains a separate website - Historic Preservation Website. This website includes a list of the properties in Lee's Summit which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Master Planning
The Historic Preservation Plan and the Downtown Master Plan are part of the City's Comprehensive Plan. These plans were reviewed and adopted by the City's Planning Commission following a public hearing process, and are updated periodically.
