OUR MISSION

Lee's Summit Water Utilities is dedicated to providing reliable water and sanitary sewer services responsibly and efficiently for the health and safety of our community with exceptional customer service, integrity and pride.

Can't Flush This!

There are so many items that we try to flush down the toilet that really should not be there – medications, wipes, hygiene products, diapers, etc.  Our sanitary sewer systems are not designed for anything other than standard toilet paper and human waste to be flushed. Other items – even those marked “flushable” can clog up a sewer main or lateral before it naturally biodegrades. Overtime, flushing these “foreign” items can result in back-ups or overflows. So before you flush, remember you can’t flush this:

  • Baby wipes
  • Diapers
  • Paper towels
  • Cleaning wipes
  • Cotton balls or swabs
  • Syringes
  • Candy or food wrappers
  • Clothing labels
  • Sponges
  • Toys
  • Any plastic item
  • Aquarium gravel
  • Kitty litter
  • Rubber or latex items
  • Cigarette butts
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Hair
  • Underwear
  • Disposable toilet brushes
  • Medication
  • Bandages

Water line improvements ensure reliable services for future growth, existing customers

Lee's Summit Water Utilities is making improvements to the water distribution system to meet the projected demands of future growth and to increase the level of service for the existing customers located in the southeast portion of the Utility's service area. The City's contractor, Miles Excavating, will break ground this week on a water line improvement project that will upgrade water lines along U.S. 50 Highway from Blackwell Road to Harris Road.

Community Sewer Line Rehabilitation

Lee’s Summit Water Utilities is repairing sewer mains throughout the City before they fail. The repair is being completed using a process called Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP), a process used to repair about 50 percent of all water pipes in the United States and also used extensively to repair sanitary sewer and storm water pipes. Lee’s Summit has used this process for several years to rehabilitate more than 30 miles of sewer lines throughout the City to ensure residents have safe and reliable sanitary sewer services.

LS Water exceeds federal quality standards

Lee’s Summit Water Utilities is proud to announce it has, once again, met and exceeded all federal quality standards as reported in the 2017 Annual Water Quality Report.
