Transit Services

The City contracts Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and OATS to provide commute and demand response transit services.  More information about these services is listed below. 

Transit Demand Assessment (Report)

 

RideKC Lee's Summit Express 

RideKC Route 550, Lee's Summit Express, provides commuter trips between downtown Kansas City, Mo., and Lee's Summit with a stop at Unity Village. Pick-up and drop-off in Lee's Summit is located at the park and ride lot near 50 Highway and Chipman Road. This bus service is managed by the KCATA and generally operates between 5-7 a.m.  (from Lee's Summit to downtown Kansas City) and between 4-6 p.m. (from downtown Kansas City to Lee's Summit), Monday through Friday. There is also a reverse commute from Lee's Summit to downtown Kansas City departing Lee's Summit around 4:30 p.m. A one-way fare is $3, or you can purchase a 31-day pass for $95. Close to Lee’s Summit is RideKC Route 340 TMC-Lakewood, with service between the Independence Transit Center and Truman Medical Center Lakewood, located at the intersection of Lee’s Summit Road and Gregory Road. A one-way fare is $1.50 or buy a 31-Day Pass for $50. Seniors, youths and riders with disabilities can qualify for a half fare.

RideKC Lee's Summit

RideKC Lee's Summit provides demand response trips within Lee's Summit. This bus/van service is operated by OATS. OATS is a not-for-profit organization contracted by the City of Lee's Summit to provide door-to-door bus service to its citizens. This service is available to anyone regardless of age or ability. This service requires at least 24 hours advance reservation (call OATS at 816.380.7433 to schedule a trip). The bus fare is currently $1.50 per trip. Service is available between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., each week Monday through Friday to and from any location in the city limits and Truman Medican Center Lakewood located just outside the city limits along Lee's Summit Road. Amtrak

Lee’s Summit also has commuter rail service, provided by AMTRAK.  The AMTRAK station is located at SW Main Street, between 2nd Street and 3rd Street, in downtown Lee’s Summit.  The AMTRAK Missouri River Runner operates daily between Kansas City and St. Louis.  For route and schedule information please visit the Amtrak website or contact an AMTRAK service representative at 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) or TDD/TTY (1-800-523-6590).

Park and Ride 

There is a commuter lot provided by the City of Lee's Summit in partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation at 50 Hwy and Chipman Road.  For other park and ride locations please visit the RideKC.org.

Regional Carpool 

RideShareKC offers a regional carpool ride matching website available to residents of Lee's Summit. Commuters can find carpool partners, see transit routes, sign up for a Guaranteed Ride Home and more through the website at www.ridesharekc.org.
