RecycleFest
RecycleFest is scheduled for 9 a.m. - noon on Saturday, April 25, at the City Maintenance Facility, 1971 SE Hamblen Road. This free event offers Lee’s Summit residents an opportunity to dispose of a variety of items that can be recycled and refurbished, reducing harm to the environment and saving landfill space. Items include adult bicycles, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, eyeglasses and crayons. Residents can bring up to four paper grocery bags of sensitive documents per household to be shredded and recycled. For more information, visit GreenLS.
Drop-off Recycling
Drop-off recycling is available at the South Recycling Center in the City's Resource Recovery Park, 2011 SE Hamblen Road. The South Recycling Center is operated by the City's contractor Summit Transfer. There is no fee to utilize this service.
Hours of operation:
Monday - Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday: 7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The following materials are accepted:
- Tin, aluminum and steel cans.
- No. 1 and No. 2 plastics (water bottles, plastic milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc.).
- Cardboard (flattened, no food or grease contamination).
- Glass (with lids removed from cans and jars).
- Paper, paperboard, newspaper, magazines (not shredded).
- Paper milk and juice cartons.
Please rinse containers.
