General Project Updates
August 11, 2025
The contractor is completing Phase 1 with concrete paving on the north side of 3rd Street from Madison to Blue Parkway. Next will be installation of storm sewer and water mains in Phase 2 on the south side of 3rd Street from Madison to Walnut. Grading for paving for the eastbound lanes will follow. The contractor is making good progress in delivering the project on time.

The first phase of the project has begun. Grading, storm sewer, watermain and base rock from Madison to Walnut Streets. Concrete paving to begin early June. Utility conflict challenges are only slowing progress, not stopping progress. The contractor is making good progress overall and on track to complete the project on time.

The first phase of the project has begun and Jefferson Street has reopened to traffic. All traffic is eastbound only on the existing eastbound lanes. Utility conflict challenges are only slowing progress, not stopping progress. The contractor is making good progress overall and is on track to complete the project on time.
March 10, 2025
The first phase of the project has begun. Closure of Third Street at Jefferson for watermain relocation is in place. Total closure of the first phase is 50 days.

The intersection closure is postponed until Monday, February 24, due to the forecast for snow and subfreezing temperatures the week of February 17.

The intersection closure is postponed until Monday, February 17, due to the forecast for snow and subfreezing temperatures the week of February 10.
February 4, 2025
Construction on the Third Street Improvements project is officially set to begin on Feb. 10 and will last until November. The intersection of Southwest Third and Southwest Jefferson streets is set to close on Monday, Feb.10, for water main work and intersection improvements. The intersection will remain closed until early April. Work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change.
Utility relocations for Spire, Google, Spectrum and AT&T are ongoing. There will be traffic control set up for both the utility relocations along the corridor and the construction work in the intersection.
