Biographical Statement: Alex Eickhoff (eye cough) is a Missouri-born and based muralist who has been making art ever since his grandmother plunked a small elephant statue in front of him and said, “Draw this.” He earned his BFA in Studio Art: Painting from Truman State University in 2015. He worked in the sculpture department at Dimensional Innovations until 2019, when he quit his job for entrepreneurial pursuits in art. Since 2020, Alex has painted over 40 murals around the KC area, across the US, and in South America.
Artist's Statement: Alex is inspired by nature and enjoys creating work that personifies the natural world with a touch of surrealist humor. He uses acrylic and aerosol paints in a painterly style to create organic shapes with radiant, expressive strokes. He particularly enjoyed anthropomorphizing animals, plants, and fungi using caricaturesque, yet realistic facial expressions. His preference for painting public murals is based on the desire to make interactive moments for any person who views his work.
