Environment & Natural Resources Committee to Discuss Flow Control on July 6

After a discussion on June 25 regarding the findings of the 2015 City of Lee’s Summit Future of Environmental Programs Survey recently compiled by ETC Institute, the City’s Environment and Natural Resources (E&NR) Committee is scheduled to discuss flow control at its next meeting on Monday, July 6 in the Council Chambers of City Hall. Flow control means all municipal waste material collected by commercial haulers in Lee’s Summit would have to be disposed of at the City’s Resource Recovery Park (RRP).

Tree and Limb Drop-Off

Across our community residents are reporting downed trees and limbs after the storm that swept through the metropolitan area overnight on June 25. Although the City does not pick up brush, residents are reminded brush can be taken to the Resource Recovery Park (RRP), also known as the landfill, at 2101 SE Hamblen Road.

Environmental Survey Reveals Favorable Results for the City's Programs & Services

According to the results of the 2015 City of Lee's Summit Future of Environmental Programs Survey recently compiled by ETC Institute, Lee's Summit residents find continuing the City's environmental programs important to the community.

North Drop-off Recycling Center Temporarily Relocated Beginning in July

Due to the reconstruction of Lee’s Summit Road, the North Drop-off Recycling Center (NRC), located at 1951 NE Douglas St., will temporarily relocate to the northwest corner of Hagen and Leinweber on the east side of Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport.

The first two phases of the construction of Lee’s Summit Road will require the roadway to be closed at NE Colbern Road for approximately four months. The closure is estimated to begin in July 2015.

Three Public Works Employees Receive APWA-KC Metro Chapter Awards

Three City of Lee’s Summit Public Works employees were presented with awards on Wednesday, May 20, at the American Public Works Association (APWA) Kansas City Metro Chapter National Public Works Week Awards Luncheon Celebration at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park, Kansas.
