2026 State of the City Address
Mayor J. Beto Lopez delivered the 2026 State of the City address on August 21 at Green Street during the Lee’s Summit Chamber’s monthly luncheon. The event brought together community and business leaders, City stakeholders, neighboring elected officials and state representatives to reflect on Lee’s Summit’s legacy and look toward its future.
The address highlighted the many ways the City is moving forward, from infrastructure and public safety to economic development, community programs and business investment. Through videos showcasing Lee’s Summit at Work and The Legacy We’re Building, attendees saw examples of the work happening across the community and the people behind it.
Mayor Lopez also emphasized the importance of alignment across City operations, noting that every interaction, from a road project and park to a business opening, permit review or public-safety response, contributes to the overall Lee’s Summit experience. He reinforced the City’s commitment to responsible stewardship and long-term planning through investments in infrastructure, facilities and other community priorities.
Mayor Lopez closed by recognizing the people who have built Lee’s Summit, those strengthening it today and those who will shape its future. That is our legacy. And together, we are building its future.
