2023 FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNUAL REPORT

I am privileged to present the Lee's Summit Fire Department's 2023 Annual Report. As your fire chief, I am honored to serve alongside an incredible team dedicated to safeguarding our community. This report reflects our collective achievements and ongoing commitment to excellence.

In 2023, the Fire Department established a new strategic plan with goals to improve staffing, training, community relations and firefighter well-being. Additionally, thanks to voter-approved funding, the department improved its resources with a ladder truck, new Fire Stations No. 4 and No. 5, additional fire apparatus including a boat for water emergencies and a live fire training facility. Overall, the department invests in its future to serve the community better.

Beyond these tangible assets, our most invaluable investment lies in our people. A wave of talented individuals have joined our ranks and risen to new challenges. We welcomed four new communication specialists, swore in 19 firefighters and helped 10 personnel achieve paramedic status. Our department also gained expertise with 14 new engineers and we're proud to see six promotions to captain, one to battalion chief and another to assistant chief. Each of these individuals contributes to our shared mission of serving the community with PRIDE.

I am keenly aware that achieving our goals hinges on the collective support of our personnel, City staff, elected officials, families and the community. We must continue to collaborate closely to sustain our progress.

Thank you for taking the time to review our annual report. Being part of the Lee's Summit Fire Department and this wonderful community is an honor. Your feedback and engagement are invaluable as we strive to serve you better.
