Adoption of Pets

The Municipal Animal Shelter is located at 1991 SE Hamblen Road. All adopted pets must be surgically altered, licensed, and vaccinated against rabies, if the new owner resides within Lee's Summit.  For current information about adoption fees, check out the animal control fees page.  This fee includes having the pet surgically altered, microchipped, and vaccinated against rabies.

Photos of Adoptable Animals are updated throughout the day so be sure to check back frequently to see the animals we have available!

Each year the Shelter cares for thousands of dogs, cats and other animals in need of new homes.  Healthy and temperamentally sound pets that have been surrendered by their owners are generally adoptable once they have been examined by our staff.

If you don't find the right companion for you today, please check back with us often.  We update our listings of adoptable animals regularly.  You can contact us for the latest information.

All adoptions are made on a first come, first served basis and are subject to the current fees.  Additionally, all adopted pets must be surgically altered, vaccinated against rabies and micro-chipped as part of the adoption process.  Lee's Summit residents must also purchase a City pet license at the time of adoption.
