Accessible Ice Sleds at Summit Ice for Next Season Monday, February 26, 2024 | Views: 6239 | Categories: Parks & Recreation Press Releases Accessible Ice Sleds at Summit Ice for Next Season In February 2024, Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) received $2,881.94 in funding to purchase three accessible ice sleds for Summit Ice located at Lea McKeighan Park North. The sleds are USA Disabled Hockey-approved and are available for pond hockey or public skating. LSPR would like to thank our generous donor, Southern Africa Volunteer Enterprise, Inc. (SAVE), for providing the funds for this purchase. SAVE is a privately funded family organization that has funded hundreds of projects since 2000. SAVE Funds projects that have an impact on vulnerable populations in the United States and around the world. SAVE especially provides funding for projects related to people with disabilities, as well as students. $250k Grant Awarded to LSPR for Mouse Creek Trail Project Friday, January 12, 2024 | Views: 7950 | Categories: Parks & Recreation Press Releases $250k Grant Awarded to LSPR for Mouse Creek Trail Project Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation has been awarded a $250,000 Recreational Trails Program Grant for the future trail along Mouse Creek in south Lee’s Summit. The grant was given through the Missouri Natural Resources Division of State Parks. This is the largest amount LSPR has received for a local trail project. The Mouse Creek Trail will consist of 1.2 miles of paved trail. It will feature a low-water crossing and a pre-cast truss bridge for stream crossing along the creek. The east trail segment will begin just north of Hook Road and Pryor Road and continue west to Eagle Creek Park and connect to existing trails. The trail improvements will then continue at the west end of Eagle Creek Park and continue onto undeveloped “Park West” property near Sampson Road in Lee’s Summit. New Meal Prep Class at Gamber Community Center At the Gamber Community Center, you can find a new class titled "Meal Prep for Real Life - Freezer Style." Enjoy making delicious meals while saving time! From a list of meals, each registered participant will choose what they would like to prepare during the lesson. After registration is over, each person will get an ordering sheet and a list of the meals they chose, along with the prices of each. Participants will have a week to look over the meal choices and place their order. You may order more than one type of food, and no minimum order is required.
