Lee's Summit Parks & Recreation News

The renovation of the Williams Grant Park and SE 3rd Street and SE Howard Avenue is set to begin this winter. Improvements include playground equipment for kids ages 2 to 5, additional playground options for children ages 5 to 12, adaptive play and outdoor musical equipment, turf play resurfacing with play mounds, a shelter, park benches, and landscaping.

At the Gamber Community Center, you can find a new class titled "Meal Prep for Real Life - Freezer Style." Enjoy making delicious meals while saving time! From a list of meals, each registered participant will choose what they would like to prepare during the lesson. After registration is over, each person will get an ordering sheet and a list of the meals they chose, along with the prices of each.  Participants will have a week to look over the meal choices and place their order. You may order more than one type of food, and no minimum order is required.  All prep materials, prep set up, and assistance prepping items will be completed by LSPR staff members. The renovation of the Lower Banner Park at E. Chipman Road and 291 Hwy is beginning in August 2023. Improvements include playground equipment for kids ages 2 to 5, equipment for kids ages 5 to 12, a 16’ x 16’ shelter, a 10’ wide multi-purpose trail, park benches, and the planting of additional trees.

The Legacy Park Amphitheater (LPA) summer season has been announced by Lee's Summit Parks & Recreation (LSPR). There will be six acts on the bill, each paying homage to a genre or legendary performers.  The Blues Festival will kick off the 2023 season on June 10. Calendar of Events for Outdoor Concerts June 10 at 7 p.m., Blues Fest will showcase the musical talents of Jason Vivone, Nick Schnebelen, and Orphan Jon and the Abandoned, thanks to funding from the Missouri Arts Council. There will not be a cover charge for this night of heartfelt music. July 14 at 7 p.m., enjoy the sounds of the islands at Jamaican Jam with Jah Lion and AZ-One, performing many fan favorites at this FREE concert. The 21^st Annual Tom Logan Memorial bike ride, Tour de Lakes, will take place on Saturday, Jun. 24, 2023. The ride starts at the Longview Community Center (3801 SW Longview Park Dr., Lee's Summit, MO 64081) at 7 a.m., rain or shine.

Riders may choose from four different routes. A 10-mile ride around Longview Lake. 32 and 56-mile rides around Longview, Raintree, and Lakewood Lakes. Finally, avid riders can tackle the 64-mile ride touring all five lakes: Longview, Raintree, Lakewood, Blue Springs, and Lake Jacomo.
