Park Ordinances & Rules

This 20 acre park is located on Pryor Road between 3rd Street and Longview Road. Ten acres of the park were purchased in 1982. The remaining 10 acres were donated by the Erichson and Gibson families of Kansas City, MO. This park was renovated in 2008 and is home to LSPR's adult softball league and features lighted softball fields, playgrounds, walkways and a concession stand with restrooms. The park is named after a LS police officer that lost his life in a rescue attempt.

Rock Island Trailhead

The Rock Island Trail is a shared use path primarily comprised of 3/8” crushed rock. Phase 1 opened June 1, 2019 and begins at Jefferson Street in Lee’s Summit, encompassing 6.4 miles to Brickyard Road in Kansas City. Construction on Phase One of the Rock Island Trail is complete. There are two official trailheads: 98th street Trailhead (12600 E 98th Street KCMO 64138) and Hartman Park (700 SW Pryor Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081). The trail is now open to the public. Phase 2 is scheduled for completion in 2020 and will extend the trail 7.1 miles from Brickyard Road to the Truman Sports Complex. Future connections to Greenwood and the Little Blue Trace are planned, pending grant funding. The trail preserves the corridor for future transit by the KCATA.
