Capital Projects

In 2016, Lee's Summit voters approved a continuation of the 1/4 cent sales tax for parks capital projects through 2033. One of the projects identified in the capital campaign was Art in Parks. This project serves as a placeholder for Arts in Parks as opportunities arise.

Bailey Farm Park master plan was completed in 2018 and included 4,000 sf nature center, community and interpretive gardens, parking, walking trails, barn, and landscaping on a 50 acre site.

The project consists of construction of 1.75 mi of trail east and west of the Eagle Creek Park trail, development of neighborhood park space on the east side of the Park West property, and preparations of a park master plan for the future use of 50 acre Park West property.  Project is tentaively scheduled to begin in spring 2024 and run through 2025 with a tentative park opening in fall 2025

One of the projects identified in the capital campaign was construction of an indoor fieldhouse for competitive and recreational sports and year-round training. Construction of a fieldhouse would be approximately 120,000 square feet. Final location is at the the former Adesa Auto Auction site and future Oldham Village Mixed Use development on the southwest corner of U.S. 50 Highway and Missouri Highway 291 South.  

Project will consist of 12 outdoor, lighted courts with fencing, shade, and site amenties south of Longview Community Center.
