Arts in Parks Status: Annual Program | Estimated Construction: 8/1/2016 - 6/30/2033 | Updated: 05/01/2025 In 2016, Lee's Summit voters approved a continuation of the 1/4 cent sales tax for parks capital projects through 2033. One of the projects identified in the capital campaign was Art in Parks. This project serves as a placeholder for Arts in Parks as opportunities arise.
Bailey Farm Park Development Status: Future | Estimated Construction: 1/1/2025 - 9/30/2026 | Updated: 05/01/2025 Bailey Farm Park master plan was completed in 2018 and included 4,000 sf nature center, community and interpretive gardens, parking, walking trails, barn, and landscaping on a 50 acre site.
Eagle Creek/Park West Development Status: In Construction | Estimated Construction: 1/1/2024 - 4/1/2026 | Updated: 01/30/2026 The project consists of construction of 1.75 mi of trail east and west of the Eagle Creek Park trail, development of neighborhood park space on the east side of the Park West property, and preparations of a park master plan for the future use of 50 acre Park West property. Project is tentaively scheduled to begin in spring 2024 and run through 2025 with a tentative park opening in fall 2025
Indoor Sports Complex/Fieldhouse Status: Future | Estimated Construction: 8/1/2024 - 9/1/2026 | Updated: 05/01/2025 One of the projects identified in the capital campaign was construction of an indoor fieldhouse for competitive and recreational sports and year-round training. Construction of a fieldhouse would be approximately 120,000 square feet. Final location is at the the former Adesa Auto Auction site and future Oldham Village Mixed Use development on the southwest corner of U.S. 50 Highway and Missouri Highway 291 South.
Outdoor Pickleball Complex at Longview Community Center Status: Future | Estimated Construction: 1/1/2024 - 12/1/2025 | Updated: 10/03/2025 Project will consist of 12 outdoor, lighted courts with fencing, shade, and site amenties south of Longview Community Center.
Playground Surface Replacement Program Status: In Construction | Estimated Construction: 10/1/2023 - 4/1/2028 | Updated: 01/30/2026 Over the next five years, LSPR will be replacing existing playground mulch with synthetic turf to improve maintenance efficiency and improve accessibility and appearance in parks. The replacement program will begin in October 2023 and run through the Spring of 2028. Safety Town Status: Future | Estimated Construction: 7/1/2027 - 7/1/2029 | Updated: 01/30/2026 The mission of Safety Town is to teach life safety skills to young learners and their families. Examples include similated kitchen emergencies, mock driving and bicycle safety, working traffic signals, severe weather events, cyber security, and utility safety and awareness among other skills. Unity Village Property Park Master Plan Status: Future | Estimated Construction: 7/1/2029 - 10/1/2031 | Updated: 01/30/2026 In August 2016, Lee’s Summit voters approved a continuation of the ¼-cent sales tax for parks capital projects through 2033. A 30 acre tract was donated to LSPR with the annexation of Unity Village properties in 2015. In January 2026, a master park development plan was approved by the Lees' Summit Parks and Recreation Board with destination types of uses due to the unique nature of the property
