The Mobile Music Box has been incredibly effective at building relationships with people, by going out into neighborhoods throughout Greater Kansas City. To date, the KC Symphony musicians have performed in 225 unique locations, spanning 91 zip codes and reaching tens of thousands of people. Starting at 6:00 p.m., enjoy a fun-filled evening with DJs, delicious food trucks, creative face painting, balloon artists, and exciting inflatables for the kids. The American Legion Post 189 of Lees Summit and the City of Lees Summit Parks and Recreation will host a "Wreath Laying Ceremony" this Saturday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lees Summit Historical Cemetery at 806 SE 3rd Street. The event will honor and pay tribute to our fallen, as well as honor those who serve and their families. The public is invited to attend and also lay a wreath for a veteran friend/family member buried in the cemetery (bring your own wreath). There are currently 1,246 veterans in the LSHC. Do you love looking at the stars? Do you want to learn more about the wonders of the night sky? If so, you are invited to join us for a community star party at the Legacy Park Amphitheater on Friday, October 18th, at 7:30 pm. We will have telescopes and binoculars, or you can bring your own or your favorite astronomy cellphone app. You will also get to meet other astronomy enthusiasts and share your passion for the cosmos.
