Covid-19 Policies/Procedures
Lee's Summit Parks & Recreation and the staff at Summit Ice have developed plans and procedures to provide a safe and fun experience in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Below is an outline of the different ways in which LSPR and the staff at Summit Ice plan to ensure this happens for the 2020 - 2021 season.
- Public Skate will be in 1 hour, 50 minute sessions, with no more than 60 people allowed per session (sign up in advance online or by calling Summit Ice)
- Walk ups will be taken, based on available spots remaining
- Masks will be required to be worn by all individuals in the facility, at all times (including during public skate or playing pond hockey)
- Enter and exit only points in the facility and skate return will be to a cart outside of the concession building
- Patrons are encouraged to pay with a credit card
- Each individual that enters the facility must provide contact tracing information, and will be given an orange or green wrist band to signal that contact tracing information has been collected for that individual
- Orange for skaters
- Green for non-skaters
- No more than 5 individuals allowed inside the concession building at one time
- Social distancing markers will be placed at the front of the facility for those lined up and waiting to enter
- Additional staff will be scheduled to continuously clean all touch points and high-traffic areas (benches/seats/cubbies/inside concession building/etc)
- Restroom will be cleaned/sanitized more frequently
- Any skate aides, sticks or helmets rented will be sanitized immediately following use
- At the fire pits, only those from the same family or "cohort" are allowed to sit together
- The picnic tables will be socially distanced under the pergola
- A deep clean/sanitize of the concession building will be done at the conclusion of the day
- Skates will be disinfected and sanitized per the standard operating procedures
Summit Ice
Summit Ice is an 8,000 square foot ice rink conveniently located on the corner of Chipman and Douglas. The only outdoor ice rink in eastern Jackson County was part of a $4.7 million dollar renovation project including a concessions shop and other park features.
Summit Ice is surrounded by beautiful glass panels, capped with brushed aluminum railing and engineered with the most advanced chilling system and will create winter traditions for generations to come.
Extensive patio seating area and multiple open fire pits under the twinkling lights above provide a magical atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The facility is complete with restrooms and a concession building.
