We've moved: Water Utilities Service Center now open

The Water Utilities Service Center, located at 1200 SE Hamblen Road, is open for business. The 38,000 square-foot building consolidates the entire Water Utilities staff of more than 50 employees to a single facility.

“For the first time in modern history, all functions of the Water Utilities Department will be consolidated and housed at one location. This new building will centralize our staff and services and increase our operational effectiveness, which means better service for current and future customers,” said Mark Schaufler, Director of Water Utilities.  “In addition, as a result of careful planning and at the suggestion of the 2011 Strategic planning group, this project was completely cash funded, meaning no debt had to be issued to fund the project.

The Service Center features a customer service-vestibule and welcome center, a field-crew ready-room, plenty of office and work space for all current and anticipated employees, locker rooms, equipment and material storage facilities and parking for all Utility owned vehicles.

Additionally, the facility will feature a wash bay for equipment, areas for expansion, and other accommodations that will allow the department provide efficient and reliable water and sewer services for years to come.

The Water Utilities Service Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Customers  may pay their bill in-person at the Service Center during business hours or at the drop box located right outside the customer entrance.  All previous methods of bill-payment may still be utilized including the cashier counter inside City Hall, 220 SE Green.
