City Crews Prepared for Potential Winter Weather This Weekend

The City’s crews are prepared for potential winter weather beginning in the evening on Sat., Jan. 28, and continuing overnight into Sun., Jan. 29. The chances are very low at this time but the City’s crews have prepared trucks and equipment and will be called out if necessary. The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and update its response as needed.

SW Madison Street from SW 2nd Street to SW 3rd Street is closed to through traffic today, Thurs., April 2, for milling in preparation for asphalt work next week. It will open later this afternoon. The same section is expected to close to through traffic from Mon., April 6, through Tues., April 7, for completion of the asphalt repair work. All work is weather permitting.

The City of Lee’s Summit is postponing the March 31 public meeting for the Colbern Road improvements in response to concerns related to COVID-19. The public will be notified when a new date is determined. The public meeting was to introduce the preliminary design for the improvements. The City of Lee’s Summit will introduce the preliminary design for the Colbern Road improvements at a public meeting on March 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Unity Village Banquet and Dining Building, 1901 NW Blue Parkway, Unity Village, Mo. City crews treated streets with salt throughout the day today, Wed., Feb. 12, and will continue treating streets tonight and overnight into Thurs., Feb. 13. Temperatures stayed above freezing for most of the day, keeping streets mostly wet; however, temperatures are expected to drop rapidly overnight causing wet streets to refreeze. City’s Crews Scheduled to Work Wed., Feb. 12, and Overnight into Thurs., Feb. 13

City crews are scheduled to begin working early Wed., Feb. 12, and will continue working overnight into Thurs., Feb. 13, as another winter storm is forecast for the area. Snow is expected to begin early Wednesday morning, possibly changing over to rain in the afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing, and then changing back to snow Wednesday evening and overnight into Thursday as temperatures drop.
