City’s Crews Preparing for Snow
City crews are scheduled to begin working at 11 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, in preparation for snow overnight into Saturday, Jan. 15. Pre-treatment is not an option due to the event starting as rain. Crews will be ready to begin salt treatment as temperatures fall overnight and rain transitions to snow.
Due to the rain and falling temperatures, streets are expected to be slick overnight. Residents should use caution while driving especially on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. Depending on the track of the storm, the Lee’s Summit area may see 2-4 inches of snow by mid-day Saturday. Sunshine on Sunday, Jan. 16, should help with melting, with temperatures rising above freezing by the afternoon on Monday, Jan. 17.
The City will continue to monitor the weather forecast and update its response as necessary.
