City’s Crews Treating Streets Today, Tues., Jan. 21

City crews are preparing for several waves of snow to move through Lee’s Summit this week. Crews treated primary and secondary streets yesterday, Mon., Jan. 20, after brief snow showers, and are treating residential streets today, Tues., Jan. 21. Another winter storm with accumulations of around ½ inch of snow is expected early in the morning on Wed., Jan. 22, and crews are expected to report early to treat streets ahead of and through rush hour.

The long-range forecast shows several chances for snow through Saturday morning. Daily high temperatures are expected to be in the mid- to upper-30’s all week, so any light snow accumulations in the mornings should melt by the afternoon. At this time it is not anticipated that 24-hour snow operations will be required, and the current plan is to have crews report early and treat streets as needed until temperatures warm up enough for snow to melt on streets. The City will continue to monitor the forecast and will update its response accordingly.
