City's Crews Plowing & Treating Residential Streets

City crews plowed and treated primary and secondary streets on Sun., Dec. 15, and overnight into Mon., Dec. 16, and are currently working to plow and treat residential streets today, Mon., Dec. 16, and will continue overnight into Tues., Dec. 17. Streets will have areas of snow pack even after being plowed and treated.

When snowfall totals 6-10 inches, it can take up to 40 hours after accumulating snow ends for crews to plow and treat the more than 1,000 lane miles in the city. The goal for completing all residential streets is 11 a.m. on Tues., Dec. 17. However, if additional accumulating snow occurs today, Mon. Dec. 16, timeframes may be adjusted.

As a reminder, primary streets are major four-lane or high volume two-lane streets, secondary streets are minor thoroughfares, and residential streets are local streets including dead-end streets and cul-de-sacs. Residents can learn more about street classifications and snow control response levels at LSsnow.net. Included is a map which shows the primary, secondary and residential street classifications for streets throughout the City.
