City Adopts 2018 International Building Codes

The City of Lee’s Summit has adopted the 2018 International Building Codes. Effective April 1, 2019, all building permit applications shall be designed and constructed under the provisions of these updated codes.

The International Code Council develops the International Building Codes, which are designed to ensure the construction of safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. The City of Lee’s Summit adopts updated codes on a six-year cycle. These updated codes were reviewed by City of Lee’s Summit staff, developers, architects, engineers, and school district members before being passed by City Council.

Amendments to the 2018 International Building Codes can be found under Development Services on the City’s website, cityofLS.net. Copies of the 2018 International Building Codes can be found at ICCSafe.org. For more information, contact Development Services at 969-1200.
