Fun ‘n’ Flight at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport Open House on June 23

The Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport invites the community to its Airport Open House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 on the east side of the airport, 402 NE Leinweber Rd., Lee’s Summit, Mo. Admission is free to this family-friendly annual event.

The Airport Open House offers a variety of activities for families and aviation enthusiasts, including aviation-related booths, static aircraft displays, food vendors, helicopter rides (for a fee), and much more. Children’s activities include free face painting and a bounce house. And as always, visitors can simply sit back and enjoy watching various aircraft take off and land at the airport which now features a brand new 5,501-foot runway. 

The event will be held at a new location this year on the airport’s east apron at the intersection of Hagen and Leinweber roads. Parking is available at the same location. 

The Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport is an important gateway connecting businesses and travelers across the country to Lee’s Summit and surrounding communities. The City of Lee’s Summit and Biederman Redevelopment Ventures will hold three public meetings on Oct. 25 at The Stanley Event Space, 308 Southeast Douglas Street, to receive feedback on the types of programming and activities the community envisions as part of the Downtown Market Plaza redevelopment project. The meetings will be one hour in length and will begin at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
