Lee’s Summit Invites Visitors to Downtown Sculpture Walk

Lee’s Summit Invites Visitors to Downtown Sculpture Walk

The City of Lee’s Summit is excited to invite visitors to explore the Downtown Sculpture Walk in downtown Lee’s Summit. The new outdoor public art exhibit will be on display through March 2021 and features artists from across the country. Visitors can expect to see a new rotation of sculptures each spring.

The six sculptures currently on display were selected from a national call for artists and juried by members of the Lee’s Summit Arts Council and Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street. They are located at various high-visibility sites throughout the downtown area. Each sculpture is exhibited on loan to the City. However, each piece is available for purchase.

“It’s very exciting to bring this new public art program to Lee’s Summit. I’m proud of the effort our community partners have given over the past year to make this possible,” said Cultural Arts Manager Glenda Masters. “It shows the collective commitment to making our City a vibrant place and it’s a great way to feature talented artists from across the country.”

The City has partnered with OTOCAST to create a free virtual public art guide, which can be downloaded to any mobile device. The app includes an interactive map of the exhibit, photos of each sculpture and audio descriptions recorded by the artists.

The Downtown Sculpture Walk is funded in part by grants from the Downtown Community Improvement District and Lee’s Summit Industrial Development Authority. The City also partnered with the Lee’s Summit Arts Council and Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street to make this exhibit a reality.

For more information about the Downtown Sculpture Walk, visit cityofLS.net/CulturalArts or contact Glenda Masters at Glenda.Masters@cityofLS.net or 816-969-1032.
