Lee’s Summit Offers Residents Behind-the-Scenes Access

The City of Lee’s Summit is now accepting applications for its Citizen’s Leadership Academy, a free program designed to provide residents and business owners with an inside look at how the City government operates. The City will accept applications through Dec. 6, 2019.

The Citizen’s Leadership Academy consists of seven sessions. They take place two Saturdays a month from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants have the opportunity to visit various City facilities to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the City. Representatives from different City departments teach the sessions, which begin in January and conclude in April.

“This program is a great chance for residents to become more involved and learn about everything that goes into making the City function properly,” said City Clerk Trisha Fowler Arcuri. “They’ll hear from City employees and elected officials, gain greater insight into the City and even lead a mock City Council meeting. It’s all meant to create more engagement.”

The City will accept 20 participants for its 2020 Class. Those interested can apply on the City’s website, cityofLS.net. For more information, email Trisha.FowlerArcuri@cityofLS.net or call 969-1005.
