Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) and the City of Lee’s Summit invite you to a free fireworks celebration on Wednesday, July 3, at Legacy Park! The gates open to the park at 6 p.m. and fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

Addressing a Universal Need: While public restrooms typically accommodate the diaper-changing needs of young children, there is growing recognition for inclusive facilities that can accommodate adults as well. Individuals who care for loved ones with disabilities often face limitations in venturing out due to concerns about accessible changing tables. Eitass Grant Supports Inclusion: Eitass awarded Lee's Summit Parks and Recreation (LSPR) a grant to install adult-sized changing tables at three of their community centers. These strategically placed facilities are located at Longview Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, and Lovell Community Center. Enhancing Accessibility at LSPR: The addition of these adult changing tables exemplifies LSPR's commitment to fostering a fully inclusive environment for all members of the community.

The renovation of the Williams Grant Park and SE 3rd Street and SE Howard Avenue is set to begin this winter. Improvements include playground equipment for kids ages 2 to 5, additional playground options for children ages 5 to 12, adaptive play and outdoor musical equipment, turf play resurfacing with play mounds, a shelter, park benches, and landscaping.

At the Gamber Community Center, you can find a new class titled "Meal Prep for Real Life - Freezer Style." Enjoy making delicious meals while saving time! From a list of meals, each registered participant will choose what they would like to prepare during the lesson. After registration is over, each person will get an ordering sheet and a list of the meals they chose, along with the prices of each.  Participants will have a week to look over the meal choices and place their order. You may order more than one type of food, and no minimum order is required.  All prep materials, prep set up, and assistance prepping items will be completed by LSPR staff members. The renovation of the Lower Banner Park at E. Chipman Road and 291 Hwy is beginning in August 2023. Improvements include playground equipment for kids ages 2 to 5, equipment for kids ages 5 to 12, a 16’ x 16’ shelter, a 10’ wide multi-purpose trail, park benches, and the planting of additional trees.
