City Crews Preparing for Winter Weather Season

The City of Lee’s Summit is holding a snow dry run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 6, to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 2024-2025 winter weather season. The annual snow dry run was scheduled in advance and is not in response to any forecast.

The purpose of the snow dry run is to ensure all equipment and software are working properly and that drivers are familiar with snow routes, which is critical to the City’s snow and ice control operations. City crews will test equipment and software, and drive snow routes with plows and salt spreaders installed on trucks. Lee’s Summit Joint Operations Facility Groundbreaking

The City of Lee's Summit will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 8 at 10:30 a.m. to mark the start of a $30.5 million project to construct the Joint Operations Facility. The ceremony is open to the public and will take place on land west of Lee’s Summit Police Headquarters at 2 NE Tudor Road. Joint Operations Center Groundbreaking Ceremony

The public is invited to the groundbreaking ceremony for the Joint Operations Facility!

Date: November 8

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Location: 2 NE Tudor Road (behind Police Headquarters)

This facility is made possible through the 2023 No Tax Increase Bond in partnership with the state of Missouri. It will serve as the future home of Fire Administration and Training, as well as the City's Emergency Operations and Communications Centers.

Section of Southwest Buckthorn Drive Set to Close Monday, Nov. 4

A section of Southwest Buckthorn Drive between Arbor Sound Drive and Southwest Arboridge Drive is set to close daily beginning Monday, Nov. 4. Daytime closures are permitted through Nov. 8, and accommodations will be made for buses. This work is for the emergency replacement of a sanitary sewer lateral. The detour route includes Arbor Sound Drive/Southwest Arborway Terrace, and Southwest Arboridge Drive.

Section of Southeast Fourth Street Set to Close Monday, Nov. 4

A section of Southeast Fourth Street between Southeast Douglas and Southeast Green streets is set for daily closures beginning Monday, Nov. 4, and work is permitted for approximately three weeks. The closures are necessary for a fire line installation from a water main to a building, and the street is expected to be plated each night. The detour route includes Southeast Green Street, Southeast Fifth Street, and Southeast Douglas Street.
