A section of Northwest Falk Drive between Northwest Village Drive and Northwest Ward Road closed today, Tuesday, November, 19, and will remain closed until the afternoon on Friday, November 22. The closure is necessary for the replacement of rusted corrugated metal storm pipe that is causing sinkholes in the road. All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. The City of Lee’s Summit is accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens Leadership Academy through Dec. 13. The seven-week program offers residents and business owners a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of municipal government and engage with elected officials and City employees. Participants will gain a firsthand look at what it takes to build and maintain one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest through presentations and tours hosted by department directors and elected officials. The curriculum will explore Lee's Summit's rich history and provide an in-depth look at public safety, financial management and budgeting, public works, water services, park management and the development life cycle. This achievement recognizes the department’s commitment to excellence in public works management and operations. APWA accreditation is a rigorous process that evaluates public works agencies against industry best practices. By earning this accreditation, City of Lee’s Summit Public Works demonstrates its dedication to providing high-quality services to the community. A section of Southwest Georgetown Drive between Southwest Ward Road and Southwest Raintree Drive is set to close to thru traffic on Thursday, Nov. 7, and will remain closed for approximately one week. The work is necessary for curb and gutter replacement near the intersection of Southwest Georgetown Drive and Southwest Raintree Drive. The detour route includes Southwest Drake Drive, Southwest Ward Road, and Southwest County Line Road.
