Lee’s Summit Offers Solution to Development Curiosity
There is a new tool to help the community stay informed about development activity in Lee’s Summit. The City has launched an online Development Activities Map, providing detailed information about development applications and construction permits issued by the City.
The interactive online map allows users to search by address, application type or permit type. Users can also click on map pins for details. Applications are projects in the preliminary review and planning process to determine if the project can meet applicable regulations. Some projects at this stage may be scheduled for upcoming public hearings. They are assigned color-coded squares on the map based on application type, such as preliminary plat or final plat. Permits are projects being reviewed or inspected for construction. Permits are assigned color-coded circles on the map based on permit type, such as new single family or new commercial.
When looking at a particular development, there is an option to see more information about the project. Users will have access to each step in the process, from the building plan review to inspection reports. The outcome will be listed for each step along with comments and an estimated completion date. There will also be document links for additional relevant information about the development.
“The new map is an easy way for the community to see what’s being built in their neighborhood, as well as the community as a whole,” said Ryan Elam, director of development services. “It will allow easier access to information in a more intuitive format to help answer questions more efficiently.”
