Community Development Block Grant Application Period Begins Jan. 6, 2020
The City of Lee’s Summit will accept applications from qualified agencies for funding for the 2020-21 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program Jan. 6, 2020 through Feb. 7, 2020. The grant funds are provided to the City annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to meet the needs of low-to-moderate income individuals and families, address slum or blight, and meet urgent needs.
Application forms and information will be available at cityofLS.net Jan. 3, 2020. Qualified agencies include public agencies and nonprofit organizations. For-profit organizations may also be eligible for consideration if the proposed programs or projects serve a public purpose and meet the national objectives, as well as the City’s CDBG Consolidated Plan objectives. Individuals are not eligible to apply. The program year starts July 1, 2020 and ends June 30, 2021.
Lee’s Summit was designated as an Entitlement Community under the Community Development Block Grant program, which gives the City authority to administer the grant in our community. The City of Lee’s Summit was awarded $373,739 for the 2019-20 program year. The City’s 2020-2021 grant funding has yet to be announced.
Applicants will be asked to present their proposals and funding requests to the Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC). The public will also have the opportunity to provide feedback before the CEDC recommends a funding allocation plan to City Council for adoption.
