City Crews Preparing for Winter Weather Season

The City of Lee’s Summit will hold a snow dry run Nov. 7 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to allow crews to prepare for the upcoming 2018-2019 winter weather season.

City crews will be testing equipment and running snow routes. The purpose of the dry run is to ensure all equipment is working properly and that drivers are familiar with snow routes, which is critical to the City’s snow and ice control operations.

Although there is a chance of snow in the forecast for this week, the annual dry run was scheduled in advance and is not in response to the forecast. However, if snow does fall, City crews will be prepared to respond if necessary.

During a snow event, City crews operate 24 hours per day to plow and treat more than 1,000 lane miles of streets and cul-de-sacs in Lee’s Summit.

For more information about the City’s snow and ice control program, contact the Public Works Department at 969-1800 or visit LSsnow.net.
