City of Lee’s Summit Announces New Finance Director
The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce Bette Wordelman has been named the City’s director of finance. Wordelman will direct and supervise the financial operation and reporting of all municipal funds including budget, audit, cash management, debt management and utility rate structure in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Wordelman has served as the City of Lee’s Summit’s deputy director of finance since February 2017. She replaces Conrad Lamb, who retired after serving as the City’s director of finance since 1985.
“Bette is a proven leader and brings a tremendous amount of experience from other governmental organizations,” Assistant City Manager Nick Edwards said. “She is a committed professional who will promote and direct activities that maximize, leverage and protect the City’s financial resources. She is a great addition to the community and our organization.”
Wordelman has more than 36 years of professional experience in the public sector. Prior to joining the City of Lee’s Summit, she served as treasurer for the City of Columbia from 1995 to 2016, where she managed the city’s investment portfolio, banking services and revenue collections. Wordelman has also served as Jefferson City’s finance director and director of investments for the Office of the Missouri State Treasurer. In addition to those roles, she has been a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Missouri since 1986.
Wordelman received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Missouri and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri – Columbia.
