Open house for 3rd Street Improvements from Murray to Pryor roads

An open house style public meeting for the 3rd Street Improvements project from Murray to Pryor roads is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in the Howard Conference room on the second floor of City Hall, 220 SE Green St, Lee’s Summit, Mo.

The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the public to the preliminary plan for improvements to 3rd Street from Murray to Pryor roads. Representatives from the design engineering firm Olsson Associates, as well as city staff, will be in attendance to answer questions. Exhibits will be on display; there is no formal presentation. The public is welcome to come and go as schedules allow.

The 3rd Street Improvements project from Murray to Pryor roads will include widening, turn lanes, sidewalks and a traffic signal at the intersection of Murray Road and 3rd Street. The project will enhance safety and traffic operations by improving the 3rd Street corridor.

The project is funded by the 2007 Capital Improvement Sales tax with a total cost of approximately $5.1 million. The project is currently in the design and right-of-way acquisition phases. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2019 and is anticipated to take up to 18 months. During construction, 3rd Street is expected to remain open to traffic.
