Transit Services

 

The City of Lee's Summit currently contracts with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) and OATS to provide transit services for residents.  More information about these services is listed below. 

 

 

Express Route

Express Route #152 serves commuter trips between downtown Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, with a stop in Raytown. Pick-up and Drop-off in Lee’s Summit is located at the park and ride lot near 50 Highway and Chipman Road. This bus service is managed by the KCATA and generally operates between 5-7 AM (Lee’s Summit Departure) and between 4-6 PM (Lee’s Summit Arrival), Monday through Friday. A one-way fare is currently $3.00, discounts apply for monthly passes. Neighboring Lee’s Summit in close proximity, the KCATA provides Connector Route #251 with service between Independence and Truman Medical Center Lakewood located at Lee’s Summit Road and Gregory.  This is not a contracted service by Lee's Summit.  For more information on this route and other KCATA transit routes please visit the KCATA website.

 

MetroFlex 

Lee’s Summit is served by MetroFlex Route #252. The MetroFlex is an on demand bus service that operates like a taxi cab. The service area for MetroFlex Route #252 is generally bound by M-291 to the east, Chipman Road to the north, Pryor Road to the west and 3rd Street/US 50 Highway to the south with service along Douglas Street to I-470. This service is managed by the KCATA and generally operates from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. A one-way fare is $1.25, reduced fare and 2-hour transfers are available for senior citizens. Neighboring Lee’s Summit in close proximity, the KCATA provides MetroFlex Route #296 with service to/from Longview Community College located at 3rd Street and View High Drive.  This is not a contracted service by Lee's Summit.  For more information on this route and other KCATA transit routes please visit the KCATA website.
 

 

OATS

OATS (Older Adult Transportation System) is a not-for-profit organization contracted by the City of Lee’s Summit to provide door-to-door bus service to its citizens. Although this service is typically patronized by senior residents, it is available for anyone. The OATS service requires advance reservation (call 816-380-7433). The bus fare is currently $2.00 per trip. OATS operates this door-to-door service, for any purpose, on Tuesday and Thursday, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, each week to and from any location in the city limit.

In addition, though not by contract to the City, OATS provides Medicaid service Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This service is restricted to eligible medical trips only. The bus fare is $14.50 per trip within Lee’s Summit and $29.00 per trip for destinations outside the city; Medicaid eligible riders have their fare covered by Medicaid.  For more information please go to www.oatstransit.org.

 

Amtrak

Lee’s Summit also has commuter rail service, provided by AMTRAK.  The AMTRAK station is located at SW Main Street, between 2nd Street and 3rd Street, in downtown Lee’s Summit.  The AMTRAK Missouri River Runner operates daily between Kansas City and St. Louis. Park and Ride
