Curb Replacement for Six Major Arterial Streets Begins Tuesday, May 31

The Arterial Curb Replacement program, which will replace 26.5 miles of curb on six major arterial streets in Lee’s Summit, Mo., is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, May 31, on SW Ward Road. The replacement of curb on all six major arterial streets is expected to take approximately six months, and will be complete by late November 2016. Streets will remain open during construction, but will have lane closures.  Slow moving traffic and delays can be expected. 

Blackwell Road Interchange Informational Meeting Scheduled for Tuesday, May 31


 

 

 




The City of Lee’s Summit and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will host an informational meeting about the US 50 Highway and Blackwell Road Interchange Improvements from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, in the Lee’s Summit Medical Center Arbor Room, 2100 SE Blue Parkway, Lee’s Summit, Mo. The purpose of the meeting is to provide residents with a project update including details about the construction process and timelines.

Section of NE Douglas Street Near NE Tudor Road Intersection Set to Close Overnight Tuesday, May 17, and Re-open Wednesday morning, May 18

NE Douglas Street between NE Chipman Road and NE Tudor Road will be closed to through traffic at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, and is anticipated to re-open by 5 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, weather pending. The closure is necessary for a water main tie-in as part of the Tudor Road, Phase 2 Improvements project.

 

Director of Public Works Dena Mezger among Top 10 Public Works Leaders of the Year

The City of Lee’s Summit’s Public Works Director Dena Mezger, PE, has been recognized with the distinguished honor of being named as one of the “2016 Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year” by the American Public Works Association (APWA). 

“Several public works colleagues that I admire and consider as mentors have received this award in the past and I am honored to join their ranks,” said Mezger. 

According to the APWA, this coveted public works award is presented annually to 10 public works professionals exhibiting excellence in the field. Among those traits are expertise and personal dedication to improving the quality of life in their communities through the advancement of public works services and technology. All are qualities and skills exhibited by Dena Mezger say those who have worked with her over the years.
