Cities Celebrate Lee's Summit Road Groundbreaking

More than 35 individuals attended the groundbreaking for Lee’s Summit Road today, July 27 at 1951 NE Douglas, Lee’s Summit. Lee’s Summit Mayor Randy Rhoads summed it up best when he said, “I could not think of a better reason to be outside braving the heat and humidity than why we are gathered here today – the much anticipated groundbreaking for the Lee’s Summit Road project. It has been years of hard work. It has been years of discussions, studies, planning and securing funding that has led us to break ground for the commencement of this $10.3 million dollar project. This project demonstrates the power of multi-jurisdictional stakeholders working together to make a project happen.” The reconstruction of Lee’s Summit Road is set to begin the first week in August and is expected to be complete in approximately 18 months. Additional information about when the temporary road closure will occur and detours during the project is forthcoming this week.
