To report a pothole in a City street, notify the Public Works Department by calling (816) 969-1800 or include the street name and direction of travel in our contact us form. The pothole will be repaired within one working day (24 hours), weather permitting

MoDOT Announces Closures and Reduced Traffic for Colbern Road Bridge Demolition

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced several closures and reduced traffic related to the Colbern Road Bridge demolition.

  • CLOSURE of the left lane of eastbound Colbern Rd. from just east of NE Town Center Dr. to NE Rice Rd. beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 13 for the removal of the concrete median strip on Colbern Rd.
  • CLOSURE of the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 470 between Douglas Street and Route 291 beginning Friday, May 19, at 8 p.m. until approximately Monday morning, May 22, at 4 a.m.
  • NIGHTLY CLOSURES of northbound and southbound Route 291 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, May 22, at 8 p.m. until approximately Friday, May 26 at 5 a.m. 
  • REDUCED TRAFFIC to one lane each direction on the south half of Colbern Road between NE Rice Road and NE Town Centre Blvd. beginning Thursday, May 18. The northern lanes of Colbern Road will remain closed until approximately mid-August.

Runway 11/29 Now Open at Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport

Runway 11/29 at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport reopened at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Aircraft operations on the reopened runway began just before 6 a.m.

Groundbreaking for Route 291 South and US 50 Highway Interchange Project is May 3

The City of Lee’s Summit and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) are hosting a groundbreaking event to kick off construction of the Route 291 and U.S. 50 Interchange. The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at Harris Park in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Attendees are encouraged to park at Harris Park Community Center and follow the trail to the event.

Lee’s Summit Road Improvements Project Wins Project of the Year Award from APWA KC Metro Chapter

The Lee’s Summit Road Improvements Project was announced as a Public Works Project of the Year by the Kansas City Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) at a luncheon on April 12, at the Grand Street Café in Kansas City, Mo. The project won in the transportation category for projects more than $5 million but less than $25 million. The entire project team, including the City of Lee’s Summit, the City of Kansas City, Mo, engineering consultant TranSystems, and contractor VF Anderson Builders, were recognized for the award.
