Runway 11/29 at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport reopened at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Aircraft operations on the reopened runway began just before 6 a.m.

There will be upcoming temporary closures of runway 11/29 to allow for some minor work with the airfield electrical system. These temporary closures are expected to take place within the next week and customers will be notified at least 48 hours in advance of the closures.

Runway 11/29 had been temporarily closed since April 17, for runway intersection construction, joint work and re-striping. During that timeframe, no take offs or landings were possible at the Airport because runway 18/36 also was closed for construction. Runway 18/36 will remain closed until runway construction is complete later this fall.

The runway construction is necessary as part of the runway 18/36 improvements project, which will extend the runway from 4,000 to 5,500 feet.
