Street Sweeping

Street sweeping is an effective method of removing both the large and microscopic pollutants that collect on City streets.  The Public Works Department, Operations Division currently sweeps every curbed street within the City, totaling 740 miles of streets, including more than 900 cul-de-sacs.

The sweeper program begins annually on April 1st and operates with the following frequency:

  • Primary Routes - swept 4 times a year
  • Secondary Routes - swept 2 times a year
  • Residential Routes - swept 1 time a year
  • Downtown District - swept Thursday nights
