On Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers responded to a convenience store located in the 200 block of SE Grand Street on the report of an armed robbery. As officers arrived on scene, they observed the suspect leaving the scene in a dark colored, four door sedan. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and led officers on a vehicle pursuit that continued out of the neighborhoods and onto westbound 50 highway and then onto the westbound lanes of I-470. With assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol tire deflation devices were deployed in the area of I-470 and View High Drive and the tires on the fleeing vehicle were deflated. As the vehicle pulled to the shoulder, the suspect attempted to flee from the vehicle on foot. An LSPD K-9 officer deployed his K-9 partner who was able to catch up to the suspect and take him to the ground. The suspect was detained by the K-9 unit and taken into custody without incident. There were no injuries reported in the incident and the suspect is in custody awaiting charges which will be filed today.
