Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation in partnership with Randy W. James and Associates, P.C. are offering a self defense class on Saturday, February 20 at the Legacy Park Community Center located at 901 NE Bluestem Drive in Lee’s Summit.
This free self defense class for women and girls twelve and older will be from 9am – 12pm. The “Counter Attactics – Be Aware and Be Prepared” class is led by Bob “Thunder” Thurman and will include educational information with the last half of each class being hands on self defense training. This will be the 8th time this class was been offered. The last class, held in December, had 80 women participating and they filled a 33 gallon can with canned goods that were donated to local non profit organizations. In addition – the class normally would cost $19 per person but thanks to the charitable contributions of Randy W. James and Associates, P.C., Missouri Trail Lawyers Care, and Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation the program is free to all participants.
The class is limited to 100 participants and pre-registration is required. The sponsoring organizations are asking for participants to bring a canned food donation. Call Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation at 816.969.1500 to sign up.
