Animal Wonders

Animal Wonders (Ages 2-12)

 

Each day students will see live examples and learn about the lives of animals from tiny insects to exotic birds and mammals. A new topic will be covered each day. Topics include the complex world of simple animals, cold blooded creatures and our feathered friends and more. We will talk about and explore animal classification, animal behavior, ecosystems, terminology, perform experiments and make crafts. The camps also include nature hikes and a chance to observe underwater creatures through a microscope.  Location: Market Street Neighborhood Center, 307 SW Market.

Intro to Art

Babysitting

Babysitter Boot Camp (Ages 10+)

Basic training for youth aspiring to babysit! New recruits will learn how to play effectively with children of all ages, prepare chow, manage lights-out, discipline, personal and child safety, first aid and CPR. Participants will also prepare business cards, create a marketing plan and determine how to prepare for any sitting job. Learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students who enjoy going to various sites to see fun interactive animations will love this course. This class offers an interactive look at the world of 3D Game Design. This awesome 3D video game design course offers the chance for students to create and immerse themselves in a 3D world. Students learn how to work as an ensemble as they build skills in character creation, improvisation, concentration, movement, voice and imagination. Acting II (Grades 5 - 12)

Students build on skills obtained in Acting I while further developing the actors tools of body, voice, and imagination. Through games and acting exercises and improvisations, young actors learn to overcome obstacles, pursue objectives, and explore given circumstances. Participants apply their training to non-scripted scenes, which develop confidence and stage presence. Please note: Acting I or prior theatre experience is a prerequisite for Acting II. First Aid

Kids First Aid (Ages 7-12)

Prepare your child to get help quickly and handle first aid emergencies such as bleeding, burns, sprains, facial injuries as well as illness. Activities and games will provide emergency skill development while emphasizing prevention. Students receive a first aid notebook and course completion certificate. Horsemanship & Riding  

Texas Tots Horsemanship (Ages 4-6)

Everything is big in Texas but this class is designed for little ones! Kids will meet real horses and have the opportunity to learn while having a real big time! Saddles, bridles, horse grooming and safety are all part of the program.  Participants must wear close-toed shoes and long pants, and a parent will need to sign a permission form before the first class.  Location: Sunset Trails, 2100 SE Ranson Rd. This class is designed for the beginner students who has taken Beginning Horsemanship or has had previous riding lessons. Clowning Around (Ages 6 - 10)

Learn and have FUN clowning! Offering clowning for the young student that is looking to find a new way for creative expression. Class covers history, performing, props, costumes and make-up. The last day will showcase a dress rehersal and perfomance for family and friends. Skateboarding 101 (Ages 3-12)

When done safely, skateboarding can ba a great outlet for our youth. Skateboarding is a fast-paced, exciting and fun activity that does have proper etiquette and an unwritten code of conduct. In this class, the instructor will teach skate park etiquette, balance, basic skills and simple tricks... perfect for beginners! Sessions will be held everyother week, meeting a total of four times. Parents must be present for the duration of each session. Helmets and a skateboard are required; knee and elbow pads are highly recommended. Tennis - Quickstart (Ages 4-6)

Forty minute classes to introduce the game in a fun way. Fridays are make up days. Participants must supply their own racquet. The program is designed for younger participants and uses shorter nets, smaller courts, low compression balls and a simplified scoring system. All participants must bring their own racquet.
