Law

Law is an internal department made up of two divisions; the Civil Division and Prosecution Division. These divisions are overseen by the city attorney who reports to the city manager, mayor and City Council. 

Civil Division

The Civil Division is located at City Hall and focuses on providing reliable, efficient and accurate legal services to the City's elected and appointed officials and staff. The Civil Division includes the city attorney, chief counsel of management and operations, chief counsel of public safety-civil rights specialist, chief counsel of infrastructure and recreation, chief counsel of economic development and planning, chief of litigation, contract compliance coordinator/paralegal, paralegal/research assistant and a part-time executive assistant.

Prosecution Division

The Prosecution Division is located in the Police Department and focuses on prosecuting city ordinance violations in order to protect the health and safety of the citizens and the integrity of neighborhoods. The Prosecution Division includes the chief prosecuting attorney, part-time assistant prosecuting attorney, office manager/paralegal and a legal assistant.
