LEE'S SUMMIT, MO— On Monday, March 27, 2017, at 11:45 p.m., the Lee’s Summit Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 803 NE Ridgeview Drive. The only caller reported fire coming from a bottom unit of the four-plex.
When the fire department arrived, heavy smoke and fire was visible from two apartments on the first and second floors of the two-story four-plex.
Firefighters initiated an attack on the fire as additional crews evacuated the other apartments of the building. The fire in both apartments was knocked down by 12:02 a.m. and a search of both apartments confirmed both apartments were unoccupied. Crews completed final extinguishment and overhaul of the affected areas. The fire was out by 12:29 a.m.
The fire appears to have originated in the apartment A on the ground floor and spread to apartment D and a portion of the attic above. Each apartment sustained significant fire damage. Apartments B and C sustained varying amounts of smoke and heat damage.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to five adults and one displaced by the fire.
